Re: Database connector error

Ludek,

Thanks for the links.  However, these cases related to situations where people were still working on their reports and configuring their stored procedures.  We wrote these reports and stored procedures used by them a long time ago and they've worked fine until now.  Also, I know for sure there is nothing wrong with the database because if I just install our web application on another server and run it, everything works fine but when I connect to the exact same database from my development machine, then I get that database connector error.

So, in both cases I use the exact same database.  The differences are:

- on my development machine I have Crystal Reports XI R2 SP6 whereas on the test server I have Crystal Reports XI R2 SP1

- on the development machine I run the web app in development mode (from Visual Studio 2005) and on the test server I run the fully installed web app (i.e. same as in production)

So my questions are:

1.  If the reports were created e.g. in Crystal Reports XI R2 SP1, should they still work in SP6 or do they need to be changed in any way?

2. Is there anything additional that needs to be configured in a development environment vs production?  For example, when I was trying to configure my development machine to work on this project I've found:

CrystalReports11_5_NET.msi

CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msi

What's the difference between the two?  Also, I've read somewhere about Crystal Reports merge modules for Visual Studio 2005.  Do I need to get those?  It almost looks like my development environment is not set up correctly.

Another thing I noticed after installing SP6 is in that in web.config under <compilation><assemblies> four of the Crystal Reports referenced assemblies got updated to version 11.5.37 (e.g. CrystalDecisions.ReportSource now shows Version=11.5.3700.0) but two of the assemblies still show version 11.5.33:

CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Framework shows 11.5.3300.0

CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.InfoStore shows 11.5.3300.0

Why didn't they get updated?  In c:/windows/assemblies  I can see for CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Framework both version 11.5.33 and 11.5.37 but when I go to Visual Studio->Add reference and click the .NET tab then for CrystalDecisions.Enteprise.Framework I can only see the 11.5.33 version whereas for CrystalDecisions.ReportSource I can see both version 11.5.33 and 11.5.37.  Why don't I see the 11.5.37 version for CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Framework?

thanks,
