Can you explain the purpose of status change for LOA?
When an employee is hired it would not be a problem to insert IT 41 as you and others have posted. If he/she has a IT 41 already and you need to insert a date type, I'd suggest using a function call, where the code can loop through DAT01 onwards and insert the new one in an empty cell. When the infotype is saved, (or in foreground mode, when you press enter) the maintenance program module sorts the date types.
Further, I would recommend changing STAT1 or STAT3 for LOA (I assume it is leave of absence), not STAT2 Empl.status.
STAT2 with Inactive status would be when an employee is terminated or in Global Employment when assigned to another country.
Also, to change status, it would be easier to use a pers.action for entering leave.
